What does it mean to "dress" guacamole…..and what does it have to do with the Oscars????

Well, Oscar could use a little green in his life…he’s so golden you know….but Oscar Sunday does conjure up thoughts of: who will win best motion picture, will the host be fabulous or a flop, who will be named best/worst dressed on the legendary red carpet...and last but not least, what delectable snacks should we savor while watching all of this from the comfort of home?  My vote is for a "Best Dressed Guacamole" bar.  Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

Best Dressed Guacamole Bar

You'll need a few simple dishes....

You'll need this easy recipe:

For every avocado use 2-3 tablespoons  My Brother's House Salsa. Roughly chop avocado. Gently stir in  the salsa  and season with Sea Salt. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro.  (How many avocados will you need?  I like to plan 1/2 avocado for every person - i.e. to serve 20 buy 10 avocados)

Then you'll need a selection of toppings for your guests to “dress” their guacamole. Here are a few to choose from:

Crisp smoky bacon,  juicy red tomatoes, sweet luscious peaches, savory bits of crumbled goat cheese, crunchy fresh onions, toasted pine nuts or pepita seeds, freshly chopped cilantrocharred/grilled corn, roasted chile peppers, citrusy lime wedges, pungent peppery radishes, or succulent strawberries to name a few!

Arrange it on your table....It will be fun to see what combinations your family and friends create to make their own signature guacamole.

And the OSCAR goes to: Mmmmmm...this one looks like the perfect bite! Guacamole dressed with strawberries, bacon and goat cheese! Have fun & enjoy!

from my table to yours,
